I play 4 string tenor banjo, much more versatile than 5 string in my opinion.

yeah I reckon you're better off with a traditional 5 string banjo, otherwise it'll sound like a guitar with a banjo twang.

You need 5-string for the full-on old-timey vibe. The Deering Goodtime is a safe bet. But pop down to your local Hobgoblin shop and try a few out.

That can be quite a problem on a 1 string banjo. Obviously.

    started a topic Banjo

    Banjo

I'm considering getting a banjo, as I play Blue Grass from time to time.

    I'm a guitar player so I'm wondering about a 6 string banjo.

As a teenager I had a banjo for a while, from my guitar teacher for a few weeks, I'm pretty certain that was 5 string. It was tuned differently but was easy and I bashed out chords on it.

    Any recommendations, thoughts etc.
