Just spent the last 2 hours fixing pish in my DB primer script.

Promised myself 7 days camping and walking in the Isle of Arran where I grew up but I don't think I will see it this year.

About 10 years ago I quit my last permie job and went backpacking round Scotland for a few weeks. Now that was FREEDOM!

After a couple of days the hassles of modern day life evaporated and I felt as free as a bird!!

I liked it so much that when I got home I went back again!

I was superfit in those days, now I'm just pretty fit.

My next bench stint starts on Wednesday, I'll start out optimistic as usual but I fear it won’t be long before I’ll be pooping in my pants as my self worth drains.

Support is dead, hourly rates are on par with perm now.

I quit my last permie job next day after I got my permanent residence here - I even got to office 1 hour early for that: it felt good and I feel this way every time I get into my car since I got private number plate that resembled my ex job

That's how I felt in the 1990s. The next stage was hating weekends and holidays because agencies were closed etc.

When I quit a permie job 3 years ago to go travelling it felt AMAZING walking out on my last day. The couple of weeks before i went abroad was great too..

Walking the streets at 4am without worries of work the next day, had sooo much fun..

But when I'm on the bench in between contracts its never like this...i end up spending my time watching bargain hunt and refreshing jobserve a million times a day.

Maybe I'll quit my contract just before it finishes...see if i get back that liberating feeling.
