    Very British, actually. Comes from when the official year started at the start of Spring, = the First Point of Aries, as the astronomical and indeed astrological years still do. Then the Julian-Gregorian calendar change pushed it forward to 6 April.

    The tax year end in Australia is 30th June, in New Zealand it is 31st March.

    A new tax year means that it is time to top up the ISA.

    What funds are people thinking about this year?

    I won't be picking Property funds this year - I piled in during the last two tax years so it would be better to spread the risk a bit.

    I hear Jupiter offer a China fund now so I might look at that
