    You can build a 4- or 5-bedroom house for 60-120k. Land that you may not build on costs a paltry few thousand for say 1/2-acre.

    All the rest is artificial scarcity value of building (or built-up) land in particular areas.

    The country would have been a better place if all local architects had been shot after the second world war. We could have got some Germans and French in - at least they design good modern buildings.
