WTF is a chaise longue doing in the bathroom?I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt, not that fancy store-bought dirt... I can't compete with that stuff. -

Yeah I thought that one was horrible and massively overpriced too.Originally posted by chicane View PostLooks like two council semis with a large and well kept garden.
Actually I'd rather have something modern, cutting edge, than a period property.Comment

You can build a 4- or 5-bedroom house for 60-120k. Land that you may not build on costs a paltry few thousand for say 1/2-acre.
All the rest is artificial scarcity value of building (or built-up) land in particular areas.Comment

Trust me, you do not want a house with a flat roof in Britain.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostIt’s not my taste at all but best of luck to you. I get the impression that modern architecture is unpopular in Britain. Sure, there are some brilliant buildings in London and Birmingham (new bull ring) and one or two fantastic architects, but it seems the height of aspiration is still a Georgian or mock tudor house in the country.
Is there anywhere in Britain where they’d let me build something like these? Don’t say Milton Keynes or Slough;
