The Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001 allows the government to seize assets from individuals or organisations it believes have acted in a way that is detrimental to the UK economy.

Congratulations on completely missing the point.

Yes...I agree with BGG sentiment, but until there's a "Whoops...we made a mistake in letting you have a massive pension when you're obviously a plank who's ballsed up big time and so now we're gonna take you're pension back" law, then he should be left alone.

How many times have we whined that someone has got away with financial incompetence ?

Now that moves are afoot to hold the person accountable, people are still moaning ?

Personally, the loss of his pension isn't going to be a great deal to him, since he no doubt has plenty of other assets which he can release in his dotage to ensure he is still comfortably well off.

I'd like to see his assets seized, and the individual to face life imprisonment in basic conditions and solitary confinement.

Make an example of him, to act as a warning to others in similar positions who abuse their power.

I said on here a couple of weeks ago that they would try to do this. In reality it's just the SNP trying to position themselves on the side of the electorate without making it a policy. This is a prime example of the catastrophy of the erosion of civil liberties in the UK. Laws get "interpreted" to suit the agenda of the government - how long before they're knocking on your door then?
