I enjoyed playing with palestine as a kid. I used to make little supermen figures, then laminate them to a big lump.

Don't you know nuffin?
Oh you mean the original partition after WW2. That was because the Russians had their Northern sphere and the Americans the South and neither wanted to piss the other off. Similar to Eastern and Western Europe.

No Korea was split by the UN after WWII. The Korean war happened after the split.Originally posted by sasguru View PostBecause the Korean war ended in a stalemate.
The UN couldn't beat the communists and the commies couldn't beat the UN. So they decided to share the Korean peninsula.

Because the Korean war ended in a stalemate.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostOkay, it was the UN that split Korea into two.
Russians took the North and Americans took the south.
Why did they do this? The country had been a single country for 100's of years.
The UN (i.e US) couldn't beat the communists and the commie Koreans (backed by China) couldn't beat the UN. So they decided to share the Korean peninsula.

The local village where I live is being threatened by the intended construction of a new gravel pit, which will border on an area protected by the Wildlife Trust and the National Trust.
I haven't, as of yet, seen any Israeli or Palestinian protestors helping out with the local campaign.
I suppose, in all fairness, they'd probably say "we have our own problems to deal with. Who are we to stick our noses in your business ? Your problems are of no interest to us".
Quite.
The feeling is mutual.

They can come to Britain. After all, didn't we put them there in the first place?
