IMHO Brasso is best taken mopped up with white bread to make a Brasso butty. Rocket fuel.

Very desperate I would think.
The latter stages of the alcoholic illness are pretty tragic. Some move on to Nightnurse, aftershave all sorts of things that have alcohol in them. I've even heard of Brasso being doctored in prison to make it drinkable. It's call 'white lady' apparently. Over the stages of the condition the individual deteriorates mentally, physically and spiritually. Eventually the unacceptable becomes acceptable to them.
There are all sorts of crazy behaviours brought on by the influence of drugs, both legal and illegal. The stories of the misery are endless.
