His actual apology wasn't far off that:Originally posted by Beefy198 View PostWhat he should have said in his apology was:
"I apologise for calling him a one-eyed Scottish idiot because I now see that most of it was irrelevant. The fact that he had an accident as a child and lost the sight in one eye was irrelevant to his capabilities to be a prime minister. And the fact that he is Scottish is also irrelevant to his capabilities to be a prime minister.
However, he is still an idiot"
He's only apologised for the one-eyed bit.In the heat of the moment I made a remark about the Prime Minister's personal appearance for which, upon reflection, I apologise.

I heard this morning that he clarified his apology in similar fashion to what you suggest!Originally posted by Beefy198 View PostWhat he should have said in his apology was:

Maybe, but the allegation isn't that she called someone a golliwog, it's that she said someone looked like a golliwog. I've seen people that look like all kinds of things. And she said it in private, not on air.Originally posted by Beefy198 View PostI think there is a big difference between casting such an opinion over someone to calling someone a golliwog.

If she had issued her comments loudly in public to an audience and directly at a black person to be 'edgy' and to cause outrage, followed by a partial apology, she would still have a job with the BBC.

Lol from the independant, quote by some blind peoples representative:
Lesley-Anne Alexander, the RNIB's chief executive, said: "Mr Clarkson's description of Prime Minister Brown is offensive.
"Any suggestion that equates disability with incompetence is totally unacceptable..."

I love those comments on Guido Fawkes blog. There's a caption competition with Jeremy Clarkson stood in the doorway of No10.
"I suppose I'm not even allowed to say that the door is black!"

Isn't that the point? That people are offended that these two adjectives should be regarded as pejorative?Originally posted by threaded View PostNotice these professional bulltulip merchants have all got themselves upset about Jeremy using 'Scottish' and 'one-eyed' as pejoratives, but not that he calls him an idiot and liar...
