That's brilliant. I played it 3 times in a row...
Wonder if they've got anything on Torpedo Alley? Thinking about diving that next year...
They must have Scapa.
Oh and don't forget the Maldives and Galapagos....

You would be needing it to consider tides and I doubt very, very, very much indeed that Google Earth will be providing that data in any short time scale. It will, however, give you the depth of the sea bed from (most likely) mean sea level. So you could only determine the 'shoallest' (hydrographer's terrminology ) route.
Using Google Earth for nautical navigation by stilts would be unsafe. (well, duh, but some poor sod will die using it...)
You learn some useless crap working in I.T. !

If you mean the name, it is definitely not rude; and there's an 'e' in the middle.

I think the next big Google app, based on their history so far, will be Google Clit.

The reactions of the International Maritime Organisation, the International Hydrographic Organisation and the UK Hydrographic Office should be interesting. Especially after the first passenger ship that uses it sinks.

I can imagine it will be very useful for Astute submarine helmsmen...
