    I recall that Private Eye reported that the Torygraph had sacked all its sub-editors, meaning that the hacks themselves were responsible for spelling, grammar, etc. The Eye predicted badly written articles as a result. Looks like they were right.

    On the one hand, it's great to see kids outside playing together. On the other hand, I don't really want them doing it right outside my house. Never happy, eh...

    As with other Newspapers of late, large numbers of positions have gone in order to reduce costs:

    Couldn't agree more.

    Personally, I think it was brilliant. How pleasant for the news headlines to be about something other than the chuffing recession for a change. Lots of footage of people having a laugh, and dozy Mercedes drivers giving it too much grunt.

    A much needed tonic IMO.

    At times like this, a little glance at the Daily Wail would make you think the English middle classes are the world’s biggest misery-guts. Look at these gems;

    ‘Anger was growing today that thousands of schools were still closed and offices out of action’

    ‘One estimate claimed that up to two million people in London alone had another day off’

    ‘ Many others who could have worked were unable to because their children's schools were still shut.’

    ‘business leaders were furious that the network has been allowed to come to standstill at such a critical time for the economy.’

    Of course you can’t miss the standard Daily Wail reference to the war; ‘Countering criticism that not even the Blitz had not brought the buses to a halt, he said: 'The Blitz didn't cover every road in London, every suburban street in London.'

    Snowballs may contain fox or dog faeces, for bonus points.

    Taxi driver across the road got a lump of ice the size of a brick through his winscreen yesterday.

    Nothing wrong with snowballs (if no grit/stones in) though......

    I guess the problem is it's hard to tell when it's harmless and when it's scummy kids up to no good.
