It seemed as though they had won a bid for some work by undercutting everyone without having any clue about how to do the work.

I was working for a virtualisation company in the Summer that was looking to get bought out. THey were approached by an Indian company who had several meetings with the directors to find out about the business. They then (wrongly) thought that the support monkey who works there was the key to the business and knew all the client systems and technical details. THey then approached him to move over and bring all the documentation and talk the clients into moving over with him. This guy is Indian and told me he wouldn't work for an Indian company as he doesn't trust Indian executives - said they will always cheat!!

thats all I remember - but im sure theres othersOriginally posted by Liability View Postthat was my point - they may start in other areas but they will seldom get in a position where they dont have control.
You're not in a position to judge others when you can't even write English correctly.

If your argument was correct, none of us would ever need to use agents, as we would "get normal UK rates without an issue"!!! The reality is we need the contacts (and the endless networking/research/fishing) that the agents give us in order to get the work fairly quickly.
Incidentally, there may be a "mindset" with some Indian companies as you so eloquently put it, but plenty are quite astute and willing to take business opportunities, even if it doesn't "keep things with their own". But hey, let's see how it pans out. Proof will be in the pudding.

Have to say I admire their tactics even though it's more nails in our coffins.

Indian Railways are just starting a big Oracle implementation (as I said last year). Quite fancy trying to "offshore" that one so that I can work over here on it
