I just gave my old Marantz/Mission seperates to my son. The SqueezeBox going via a Denon amp is pretty decent - the speakers are letting it down at the moment though. I may need to nick those Missions back methinks...

I've had my HiFi for 21 years, it still sounds more beefy than these IPod type systemsOriginally posted by JoJoGabor View PostI'm working from home and my hifi I've had for 14 years has just packed in. Just having a quick search on the internet it struck me that I have no idea of what features I could consider besides the usual radio/CD player combo. I like the idea of DAB radio. What other funky new technology is available nowadays?
God I sound like my mum.

Happy to help. I'd had enough of seeing Peston on the news every night.Originally posted by sasguru View PostThat's it guys. Your spending confirms my idea that the UK will not languish in a recession for long.
The extensive renovation works on my house have substantially helped prop up the economy too.

Was just about to suggest Logitech (SqueezeBox). I've had my SqueezeBox Classic for a while now, streaming from my NAS.Originally posted by Lockhouse View PostI'm just looking at replacing* my 12 year old TV and hi-fi with plasma, multi-room music streaming and jolly good fun it is too. Going for the Logitech rather than the Sonos.
For the real audiophile there's even the Transporter - a bit steep for an MP3 player at $2000 though (although it will handle various lossless audio formats). A former colleague of mine bought one and then had it "modified" by some chap that takes it apart and replaces just about every component in site with something "better".
Good luck!Originally posted by Lockhouse View Post* renewal dependent.

Wide range of internet radio, Pandora, and such like. If you have an iPhone there's an app for controlling the Sonos too, as well as the PC software.

Multi room wireless thingy, takes radio and music from your PC.

My son has a wireless music setup in his bedroom, range is simply adjusted by twiddling a knob untill he can hear in the room he actaully wants to be in...

Time to invest in some wireless home media kit. AirTunes, Sonos etc. etc.
