The other year one bloke adopted the strategy of simply working his way through the boxes from left to right. Noel Edmonds spent the show characterising this as much riskier than, say, choosing boxes in a sequence based on the birth dates of pets
I've just been for a 10k run, I like to catch Deal or no Deal to laugh at the stupid people who think they can control chance with superstition.
I wouldn't be surprised if they vet contestants to make sure they are dumb and entertaining. It's excruciating to watch because of the voodoo strategies people use to pick the boxes. The only strategy worth knowing is when to take the bankers offer. For sure, this is not likely to be at the start of the game because those offers are way less than one could expect to win on average (all the amounts added up divided by the number of boxes).
