Strauss should have kept the captaincy for the last Ashes series, instead of giving it to the idiot Flintoff.
Put us back years, that did.

Interesting times ahead.

That would reveal the true world champions, who have mastered all the formats of the game, and don't just focus on one bit.
Very few cricketers have mastered all forms of the game. I'd rather see specialists at each than mediocrity, where half the players consistently fail and reduce the quality on show.

Cricket is a game played over 5 days. End of.
Everything is running round in pyjamas.
IMHO of course.

Moores' international cricket experience before he got this job was what, exactly? No wonder players and skippers seem to have no faith in him.
Why does England have an amazing capacity to employ idiots to run its sports? Cricket, football, rugby, tennis, athletics, hockey....the list goes on.

Vaughan quit because his form was too bad, and because he couldn't work with Moores.
Petersen may go because he can't work with Moores.
I can almost see some kind of trend emerging here, but it's a little vague still....
Moores was good at the academy, but not good enough for the England job. Should have gone to Tom Moody when we had the chance, but he's out of the way now. Graeme Ford is a good shout, but not too well thought of within the ECB. Ashley Giles as a stop-gap (no coaching experience) while they try to get the right man in for the home series would be my choice, I think.

If the captain chooses the coach, then it sets a dangerous precedent.
But, as Stu points out, Strauss would get the job and need to be added to the ODI squad, even though he's no good. And who does the Twenty20 job?
Unless they move back to having a split captaincy, which doesn't work particularly well anyway (for England, at least). And (again) who could they have as ODI captain - Collingwood? Flintoff?
Bring back Vaughan to solve all the problems...

Marvellous, now Strauss will be made captain and have to be picked for the one-dayers, even though he's no good at them
