This hits home even more when you see people die (of old age). It really becomes clear that life is temporary and you need to do something more meaningful than just work and make money.

It's driven into us from a young age - study hard, get a good job, work hard, make money, buy a house, get married etc etc. Somewhere along that journey you forget who you are and get melded into the drum beat of a life that you didn't map out for yourself.

Yeah but look what happens. You get out and about, go for a drive with your mates, burn off the fuzz, have a little crash and bang!! They are calling you a scummy joyrider.

That is so correct. So many people just live to earn money in order to show off what they have. Eventually, they realise that others don't really give a toss and are quite happy with their lot, because they have realised that there is only so much money one needs for happiness.

Get a life and enjoy it. You only have one of them, and you just do not know when it will end. Life was never meant to be spent in an office !!!! The older I get, the more precious I feel life is especially as I see my elderly parents slowly decline. Every day becomes precious at their age.

Because you've spent your life getting to this point and realised that being here you forgot to enjoy the journey on the way. As such your standards have increased as a substitute for happiness and your expectations in terms of value have grown considerably as a result.

Pack it all in, travel the world a bit, see a few things, then once your expectations and values have been reset you will appreciate the fact you -are- actually 'well off' (in comparison terms with the rest of society in general).
