I heard a similar story when I was at uni from friends of an ex-girlfriend. Several chaps after me she threatened to top herself if her current squeeze left her. I don't think she ever went through with it, but was forever known as Mental Amy amongst my friends.

It sound like you are well out of it. Good luck whatever you decide.

Bad enough, but attempted suicide must be much worse.

And also, (without wanting to sound harsh) don't hang around trying to make sure she is okay - it will only make things harder for her in the long term. Her friends might well think you're heartless but she'll get over it a lot quicker without you trying to be her friend.

    A&E?? WTF happened?
without going into too much detail it seems that she has an unstable mental disposition and on hearing the words "then maybe we should end it then" she seemed to believe she should attempt that literally while I was out of the house which involved gin, wine, a selection of tablets, ammonia and bleach

the doctor says she is stable and I believe she has some counselling scheduled once she has recovered, her friends are now looking after and I think the best thing to do is make a clean break..

EDIT: the argument was over the amount of time i spend away with work and as a consequence of her actions I spent up until this morning back in the uk sorting out this mess.. thank god i dont have a manager that i need to explain this too..

    my guess

they had a row about who gets the toaster.
Chef caught her with a left and she responded with a knee. He dodged astutely, showing some mighty footwork, then jabbed her in the throat with a right.
As she fell, groaning, he nutted her then followed up with the boot
