Yes, the global 'recession' isn't going to help matters, but things are not looking anywhere near as grim as they are 'oop north' (in the northern hemisphere). I been working for 25 years in NZ and Oz and the UK and its a trend that NZ and Oz quite often have economic downturns when the rest of the world is booming, and visa versa.
When my contract is up next July I'll be looking to move abroad. I had planned on the UK, but now its looking more likely that my employment and lifestyle prospects will be better in Oz than the UK.
