    Being chased for roles at £200pd - just finshed gig on £350pd

    To take, or not to take: that is the question:
    Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    The drop in rate and lack my outrageous fortune,
    Or to take arms against a sea of agents,
    And by opposing end these cut in rates? To die: to sleep;
    No more; and to this credit crunch we end
    The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
    That flesh is heir to, 'continue my daily rate’
    Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
    To sleep: perchance to dream: of the 12 month contract on £500 a day, there's the rub;
    For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
    When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
    Must give us pause: there's the respect
    That makes us work for a daily rate.

    HR Director (Global company)

    Nearly as much as a brain surgeon. FFS that is ludicrous.

    That is indeed a significant hurdle to overcome.

    Sounds high: http://www.mysalary.co.uk/averagesalary.php says mid 20s. http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=285 ties in with that.

    I was actually thinking average was nearer 20 but I guess my view is biased living up north.

    A salary of £30K works out as about £16/hr or £130/day, and is a lot higher than the average salary... if you don't have to support children etc that's quite comfortable (depending on your tastes).

    I figure if you can get £400/day without taking long bench-rests, you're probably in the top 1-2% of the country, earnings-wise. Do people here realise just how much more they earn than most people, out of interest?
