Anybody in HM government that recommends disbanding the Ghurkas over this would be a Traitor and a total scumbag IMHO.
Maybe this is an opportunity. As was pointed out before, the Romans offered citizenship in return for service. Maybe we should do the same. 25 years in you get your ticket, no question. Use illegals as target practice and simulation.

Those men knew the rules when they signed up. The rules were wrong, but they were there.

This could spell the end of the regiment.

It's always been a disgrace how these guys got treated.

I say that we should chuck out a few bogus asylum seekers and make room for every single Ghurka soldier who wishes to come here.

This country doesn't deserve the Ghurkas IMO.

Gurkhas win right to stay in UK

This story is a few hours old, but I think it's a Good Thing:

"Gurkhas have been part of the British Army for almost 200 years and are hand picked from a fiercely contested recruitment contest in Nepal to win the right to join.

They have seen combat all over the world, with 200,000 fighting in the two world wars."

Anyone who fought for the Roman empire became a citizen of Rome (if they survived 25 years' service). This is no different.

Working...
