On the contrary, I understand it perfectly, hence my opposition to their stalinist (and pointless) ID card scheme.

You clearly don't understand the NL way. All illegal immigrants currently in the UK will get amnesty (much like knives and handguns, only you don't have to hand them in to the police). By doing that, the illegal immigrant count is set to zero and they will have the stats to prove a reduction in numbers.Originally posted by Peoplesoft bloke View PostDoesn't it seem like locking the stable door after the horse has bolted?

We would be better not letting them in in the first place.Originally posted by Peoplesoft bloke View PostDoes anyone else think we ought to spend money preventing guys like this entering rather than letting them all in then spending millions on a fandabedozie fingerprint system?
Doesn't it seem like locking the stable door after the horse has bolted?
As I said, none of it in any way justifies the government demanding my fingerprints and controlling my identity for me.

I know how you feel, and if it were one or two I may have the same attitude, but the UK is over run with illegals and I don't think that is an exageration.
I don't think I could persuade anyone to move to Nu'Castle as it is such a tulip hole, even if you are desperate for work. ;-)

Plus SA didn't mention how long the youngster had to work in the kitchenOriginally posted by snaw View PostGuys, there's a few hundred 'male members' on this board at least. £1 each and I'm sure we could provide some unemployed youngster an incentive to give it a go.

Go and find out how many NI numbers have been issued to non-EU nationals then come back and answer that again...Originally posted by SallyAnne View PostOk ok - so this guy is working 12 hour shifts in a kitchen for £10, and also a criminial mastermind who has ID for all occasions and claiming a fortune of our tax payers money in benefits?

I would guess he was drawing some benefits as he could not live off the reported wage.
We have plenty of Brits of Asian decent who are out of work who would liek a decent job.
I know quite a few young non asian lads who want to go into catering who would love the chance to work in a good Indian kitchen. It is mostly a closed (some would say racist) shop.
You are ranting at the wrong people here hun. This guy is an illegal. The bloke who employed him is exploiting the situation. We all want a good curry, but I want mine made by a legit worker.
come on
And you should point some of those lads looking for Indian Kitchen work up to the North East TLG, as a restaraunt round the corner form us actually closed down last year cause they couldn't get any staff.

I'm just saying the argument of "stealing our jobs" isn't always valid, as in this case. Cause there's not one kid in the country who would work in a stinking Indian kitchen on Friday and Saturday nights, who wasn't already born into it. So if those jobs are going spare, then they'd stay spare.
The working philosophy of people in this country is "why do a job like that when I can get paid for sitting on my a&se" and we all know it. So why lie about people stealing our jobs?! It's pathetic.
The services point was slightly valid, although I'm not sure on how easy it is for illegal immigrants to get our NHS services....when you register with a doctor dont you have to provide all sorts of ID and stuff? NI numbers? Passports? Previous doctors names? (I know I had to do that when I registered with my doctor 2 years ago).
And what other services are "they" a drain on?
I just think people whinge about "immigrants" cause they're brainwashed into thinking they're the bogey man (no offence Bogeyman).
