Julie, the blonde, was getting pretty desperate for money. She decided to go to the nicer, richer neighborhoods around town and look for odd jobs as a handy woman.
The first house she came to, a man answered the door and told Julie,
"Yeah, I have a job for you. How would you like to paint the porch?" "Sure, that sounds great!" said Julie.
"Well, how much do you want me to pay you?" asked the man.
"Is fifty bucks all right?" Julie asked.
"Yeah, great. You'll find the paint and ladders you'll need in the garage."
The man went back into his house to his wife who had been listening. "Fifty bucks! Does she know the porch goes all the way around the house?" asked the wife.
"Well, she must, she was standing right on it!" her husband replied.
About 45 minutes later, Julie knocked on the door. "I'm all finished," she told the surprised homeowner. The man was amazed.
"You painted the whole porch?" "Yeah," Julie replied, "I even had some paint left, so I put on two coats!" The man reached into his wallet to pay Julie.

"Oh, and by the way," said Julie, "That's not a Porch, it's a Ferrari."

I hear you can get nice ones from Wickes. Your man will be able to put them up in a jiffy.

Although am not sure its going to be HBOS, but must admit we've seen the trend before, one giant fall, others will follow, not necessarily another banking giant, but you never know.

Let's see how today's Wall Street trading goes... The prospect would be horrific though.

I think HBOS are subject to a ridiculous amount of unfounded rumour.

The underlying facts are somewhat different.

And where did you get that 200 yard guesstimate? I call BS.

They may have to raise up to 200 Billion quite soon on money markets(Northern Rock had to go to the BofE for similar reasons after those markets had dried up) to roll over loans and without BofE help they may well struggle. Time will tell, but it is much easier to get loans from the BofE now!!

I hope not considering how many people here work for HBOS, it's by far the largest employer in Halifax.

No view on how financially sound they are as I'm out of touch with their economic status.

I doubt any of the UK banks are doing well in share price terms for obvious reasons.
