I dont see why it has to be a charity thing.
When I was in Kerala a couple of years ago one of the local guides took great delight in explaining how the local authority and people had done this and how it worked. It was a matter of great pride which the people were commited to.
If they do it through charity will they achieve the same commitment.
She told us how they had taken a different education model in that they took the schools out to the people, but they realised that the only way to reach full literacy was to let the ordinary schools do what they do with the kids and do special education for adults, thus achieving 98% literacy.
They then educated the adults into the idea that they could afford to educate one or two children well who would then be able to support the family well, rather than have 10 cha wallers who would all struggle to make ends meet.

I reckon it's basically bribery, to buy goodwill and business opportunities from the Indian government and corporations (not a bad thing for the UK I suppose), and maybe get a few more votes in ethnic constituencies in the UK.Originally posted by Masher

Is it reasonable to expect women to have 11 or 12 children?
It also helps if the children manage to survive to maturity.
With 6 billion people in the world every little helps...

You should read posts before you answer them
All right, a bit radical I know.
If the call-centre was in India (which I believe is implied in wc2's post) then he wouldn't be paying UK taxes, he would just be taking another UK job.

but he would be paying his tax's in the UK - and having the job in the first place wound imply he is alowed to work in the UK - so whats the problem?
