Reminds me of the time I got done for putting out my waste paper a few days early. Got reported by an officious Swiss couple to the local plod.
Went down the cop shop, and agreed to put the offending items in the back of my car for one night, and then going down the next day to restack the waste paper by the side of the road, this being the legal day. Oh, and I'd thoughtfully stacked it on the wrong side of the road where there was plenty of room, instead of my side of the road where it would partially block the road, as there's no pavement, so I had to put that right as well.
While I was helping plod with their enquiries, a jewellers was burgled. Police were unable to apprehend the criminal, as they were far too busy dealing with a major littering offense.

It has all gone a bit wonky, hasn't it? Councils using new laws, designed to catch beardies, to prove that Mrs. Miggins (aged 87, living on £100 per week, house worth £128,750) is putting her rubbish out the night before collection AND (the old slag) overfilling her wheelie, so that the lid is 0.000002mm ajar.

What I do for 90% of the time is nowt to do with anyone else, but especially not the government - they are supposed to work for me, not require me to explain myself to them.
This is not a left/right issue (although parties would like to pretend it is). When Micheal Howard wanted ID cards, Blair was against it, Now Labour want it, the Tories oppose it. It was always wrong and stupid. Mrs Thatcher talked about democracy a lot but opposed sanctions against the Aparthied regime in South Africa and was a huge fan of Chilean dicator Pinochet who tortured and killed people who opposed him and imposed a ridiculous ban on Sinn Fein politicians being broadcast live on tv or radio, so let's not kid ourselves that any one party will stand up for our freedoms.
