My favourite bit in Catch-22 is when they all have to start signing loyalty oaths before they can do anything, and it gets to the point where they have to sign loyalty oaths for each item of food at meal times in the mess so there are enormous queues for everything.
Eventually, Major ____ de Coverley comes back from leave, walks into the mess, stands there for a moment looking round and then goes, "Gimme eat. Give everyone eat." And that's the end of the loyalty oaths.
We need a load of Major ____ de Coverleys in this country. "GIMME EAT" should be as well known as "Big Brother is watching you" or "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".

I wonder if this applies to all parents taking their kids to school then?Originally posted by RichardCranium View Postthis must stop until she has undergone a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. The council said this was a standard requirement for escorting children.

and hopefully that time in his life he could either have learned to recognise the oncoming seizure and do something, or he could have grown out of it. It does happen, docs aren't sure why but it happens.Originally posted by Sockpuppet View PostOk, what if the taxi picks up another kid on the way.

WRT the picking someone up on the way, then this shouldn't be an issue, you don't need a CRB to go on a bus while there are kids on it.
It would be different if the parents were driving the car.
I've just had to be CRB checked to go on a weekend camping with local cub camp. I hasd no issues, but like someone said earlier it just shows that I haven't been caught.

Our friend's child was diabetic and the school had to send teachers on course to deal with the injections etc...
In a bad mood are we SP ?

Typical emphasis on largely pointless paperwork, what does CRB prove except you haven't been caught yet? Properly vet and asses the people who are really in charge and don't allow others unsupervised access, especially men.

I'm betting she works close to his school and just wanted the free lift.
If not I hope the taxi made her walk home other than charging both ways and if its close enough to walk why don't they do it in the first place. Not encouraging being green are they.
