I was going to make a serious point here about butterflies but I have no idea what it was. It certainly wasn't this (NSFW)

A butterfly is much misunderstood. It actually lives relatively long but for most of its life it is not a pretty winged creature, but a caterpillar, a squishy eating machine.

It spends the first part of its life fat, hairy, and more concerned with its stomach than with sex. Then it starts to be concerned only with looks and smell, and mating.

Men go through life the other way round.

The Queen Alexandra's Birdwing is the biggest butterfly in the world, with a wingspan up to 1 ft (30 cm) wide. The female can be distinguished from the male by its cream-coloured body and a red tuft of 'fur' on the thorax.

A butterfly flew into the windscreen of my car this morning, didn't half make a mess when I turned the wipers on.
