I should qualify my previous comment by saying that Jazz is probably the only music I make a point of NOT listening to (with the exception of the 3 aforementioned practitioners) so my knowledge of the genre is limited.

The only British Jazz players that I know of are Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball and Johnny Dankworth and of those three I rate Johnny Dankworth the best.
