When I was a permie I was driving something around 36k miles per year, having to refuel every week - diesel was saving a lot of money back then, but now (with overall prices a lot higher), the savings are even higher.

If the Govt was serious about climate change they'd increase duty on petrol to make it much more expensive with diesel.

You are Jezza and I claim my 5 laps in a reasonably priced diesel

    Another fallacy.

Look at Pence Per Mile in a car mag and you'll see the difference is a few pence per mile between modern petrol and diesel cars of a similar spec.

    Diesel cars:

    Cost more to buy
    Cost more to service
Diesel is more expensive than petrol

So you just keep untaxed and uninsured R8 parked in front of the work building to impress female permies, while waiting in the office until everyone is gone to drive off in Skoda?

Unfortunately, not being as gifted as the "Special One" aka Threaded, I can only drive one at once.

    Thanks for listening y'all!

I think there are different technologies, but the one VAG fit to some of their cars is a Silicon Carbide matrix, quite high tech. Expensive. If you're thinking of buying a DPF equipped Diesel, do your research carefully. Some are OK, some are awful. HTH.

Quite a hefty percentage of his monthly income, I think: £12.99 + VAT
