My first contract role I lied about:

    - when and where I had previously done similar work and who for
    - number of years experience of the above
    - the fact I got fired from my last job
    - and the one before that

Work went well. They loved me. Back there now on another project after a gap for another project in the middle. Rate rises all round.

Then again I knew I could do the work, I just had never had able to put Project Manager on my CV even though I had carried most of those deadbeat PMs accross the line.

Nope. Never blagged. If they ask me do I know X, I'll tell them no.

I expect honesty from them and they expect the same from me.

I wouldn't however recommend this strategy, it is not for the faint hearted.

    Use this strategy with caution.

like for example, you've only ever driven a Passat, but you're pretty confident if someone gives you the keys to a Phaeton you'll be able to drive it and eventually find all the switches for lights, window wipers etc

using that analagy, studied the course, studied the doco and got a contract, at the time the software component was new and there was nobody in the market place with the skills so it was not like there was lots of competition

that was in the tough times of 2002 after being 8 weeks on the bench, cv was getting no bites, tough times take tough measures...

have worked with the same technology and its evolution for the last 6 years and all orbiting technologies and am proud and happy to say am now defo an expert of said technology

at the time, it was not easy and it was not a holiday, but on the other side as the product was so new there was nobody highly skilled in it anywhere anyway, so nobody really to be bench marked against

    Milan.
So, let me get this straight, there are parallels between watching porn videos and swapping data tapes.
