    Philip Larkin - Coming

    On longer evenings,
    Light, shill and yellow,
    Bathes the serene
    Foreheads of houses.
    A thrush sings,
    Laurel-surrounded
    In the deep bare garden,
    Its fresh-peeled voice

    Astonishing the brickwork.
    It will be spring soon,
It will be spring soon -
    And I, whose childhood
    Is a forgotten boredom,
    Feel like a child
    Who comes on a scene
    Of adult reconciling,
    And can understand nothing
    But the unusual laughter,
    And starts to be happy.

I was going to swap the tires from studs to summer on Saturday, but the garage was shut when I got there.

Now the weather forecast says it's going to snow tomorrow evening.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Well it's a good thing the chilled spring rain has turned to sleet.

The pound is going next to zero so any time I come back to London for a visit everything will look very cheap.
