I've noticed (and I think it was commented on in another post but I can't be bothered to look for it) that a lot of contracts are being advertised on a pro-rata annual 'salary' basis that is, on average, working out roughly half you would normally expect for the role.

I have enquired about some of these roles recently and the agents even seem shocked when I explain what the normal rate would be.

AtW: what do you think does this mean anything or it means nothing at all and they are still plotting to sack me
They're always plotting to replace you with somebody who can do the job cheaper. That's contracting.

    As a seasoned old lag

    1. Take the contract extension
    2. Start looking for another contract. If you get one think up a good excuse for terminating your current contract.
    3. Make the job sound as dull as possible for the permie replacement to try and put them off acquiriing the knowledge. Tell them that the market's really dived and that it'll take months for you to get another job as companies don't use the product anymore.

    It's Chrissie, someone's girlfriend.

You have to read everything on here - occasionally there is a little snippet now and then. That's how I got the name.

Me too. This particular gig involves statutory regulatory compliance so they have to complete it. Still that's no guarantee that they need to keep me around.

I were told two weeks ago that mine could be cut short but confirmed will keep me until end of year now which is when my contract finishes, then I'll be on the bench for the rest of 08! bring it on!
