The skill he has is being able to rant in an amusing and lighthearted way. Something the likes of Max Hastings, Littlejohn or Hitchens can only dream of.

To be absolutely honest, I do find some of his stuff both funny & clever... but now I am (like, I think, many) bored to feckin' tears with the act he puts on. And it is an act.

He is now firmly in the brigade of wankies who think that automatically gainsaying equals edginess and coolness. It just doesn't: it drowns the good stuff they might come up with.

What i like about Clarkson is that the elitist snobs of this world do not like him. because his humour appeals to such a broad section of people whether they have brains or not.
The people who do not like him tend to be those who take themselves seriously, as he constantly takes pops at those who do, from golf club members to environmentalists, to self proclaimed "intellectuals".

he is a bit irritating of late, but that is probabaly because I have watched all Top gear shows 20 times on satellite

Love him or loathe him Clarkson is the most copied motoring journalist EVER in the world EVER, and he reinvented the TV car show formats for the second time, just when most thought the format was dead. It's light hearted p1ss taking in the true British tradition, Clarkson doesn't take himself seriously it's a shame some people have an irony/SOH bypass.

Yes. I've read a couple and both were hilarious. But then again, I find the man very funny indeed.
