Yeah. That bit jumped out at me too. As I recall, Bliar tried to avoid having a vote in the first place.

History is written by the winners. Blair has always wanted to be remembered as a great statesman, hence the move to international politics after the PM job. This is just the start of the whitewash campaign. What's interesting is that he's got a former policy adviser to make the statements rather than put himself on the line by having to answer questions about his position.

He's (was) a very successful politician, ergo has a great capacity to delude himself, as well as other people. There may now be no way of ever finding out the truth (not that it matters, it isn't going to bring back any of the troops killed there).

I did hear down at the Rotters club that Blairs nose has been put out of joint as some of the Arab chaps have balked at his Middle East peace convoy appointment - hardly surprising as he his name doesnt really ring with the word Peace in the Middle East.

So he is desperately , in typical lizardlike fashion - trying to say that he wasnt in any way responsbile for the quagmire which is Iraq - but in fact - a Big Boy did it and ran away.
