Absolute Bo***cks. He has not kept inflation down, it has been kept down by globalisation that has given capital and labour the mobility to offset inflationary pressures.Originally posted by DiverC'mon, Mr Gordon Brown has worked hard under extremely difficult conditions to generate a stable economy in a country that is constantly on the Razor edge of rampant inflation. of all people, contractors should realize the effect that inflation running riot has on a fragile economy.
We are no longer a producing nation, we are a nation of service not supply.
Our Population percentage grows ever older as people live longer lives, needing financial support for a longer term from a state that cannot afford it.
Unless action (sometimes distastefull action) is taken now, we will see a nation torn apart by rampant inflation.
People taking wheelbarrow loads of worthless money to the shops to buy food that we have to import from so called third world countries whose economies have remained relatively stable because they produce.
The reason why we are no longer a producing nation is because we choose to waste vast amounts of wealth on inefficient public services. This is as responsible for creating inflationary pressures as anything. We also as a nation have a govt that seeks to meddle in everything we do, which has the effect of hiking labour costs. Because we choose to pay 4 million people to do nothing and then another several million administering people who do nothing, we have to then import labour to do the real jobs. These people need to be housed thus making land too expensive to build manufacturing facilities.
All that will happen is that people will grab their wealth and take it and their skills to where the jobs and standards of living are (thank you globalisation). This will leave the UK to take a long look at itself, kick out socialism (ak Thatcher) and make itself look an attractive place for people to live and invest.
Gordon Brown knows this but it goes against the grain of his socialist controlling nature.

This is not attributable to Gordon Brown it is attributable to technology and globalisation that enables business and entrepreneurs to operate out of the clutches of governments.
The things that the govt should have done is to improve public services and bring the poor into this loop of wealth, and this they quite clearly have not done.

All the media are fawning rather than pointing out just what he has been jointly responsible for during these last ten years.
