How does expedia.co.uk keep going?

Fantastic, spend as much time in Rome as possible as we had 4 days and it was not quite enough to get round the more famous sites let alone everything else, my advise would be get a good guide book (we had this one and walk everywhere.

Venice was great to visit as a spectacle but 2 days in those crowds would have been enough (and it’s expensive), Rome is the real deal!

did you smuggle back a chunk of parmesan in your suit case :-) it's meant to be really cheap out there.....

And neither they, nor the hotel you stay with, give you VAT receipts either.

That is easily solved by a quick call to the VATman. They can be very helpful.

That's never stopped me reclaiming VAT. As long as they're registered I don't give a chuff if I've got a piece of paper to prove it. My accountant and the tax man can have a death match over it if they want to I'm still going to reclaim it.

Besides you can print your own these days. Anyone asks, "yep they only provided email invoices but it's got the vat number on so [shrugs shoulders]".

Can't find their vat number? Inform them it's now a legal requirement to display company number and vat number on their website. Sorted.

www.expedia.co.uk how does it keep going? I have never found anything cheap on there yet they continue to grow... are there lots of rich stupid people about who just can’t be bothered?

Surely if you have enough nouse to get on t’internet you could book everything yourself anyway.

I booked a 2 centre holiday to Italy, I flew into Rome (4 days) got a 1st class train to Venice (3 days) both in a 4* hotels and flew home from there, total cost £900 for 2... Expedia was something like £3k and I would have had to compromise on just about everything.
