Yeah, I saw that on Top Gear as well - costs serious money though.

Yeah I think it's the Porsche Speedster and they were using the Subaru WRX engine and drivetrain, but yeah silly money. Mazda do a turbo version of it's MX5 which is pretty quick, but not sold in the UK.

I would love it if a manufacturer could build a car that looks like an Austin Healy MkIII but with the mechanics of an S2000 I'd by one, ....if it cost the same as a mondeo!

I know the MX5 is sort of retro looking but it doesn’t go far enough.

Not necessarily - they may be high milers, but it's a Honda and it takes it in it's stride.

Don't even think about a 911 for that price. Especially if your missus is a novice driver. The older 911s were notoriously difficult to drive, terrible oversteer, the turbos were problematic and the interior bland. For 10K you won't get air con, traction control, stability control, abs, air bags etc etc. Spend your pennies on something modern, but if u really want a 911 source one from Europe where they are dirt cheap albeit left hand drive.

Would second that on a TR4.

Avoid 911, they do bite the unwary, especially if you've going to throw it around country lanes.

I would not buy any 911 at £10K. It will be old and trouble at that end of the market. Pay at least £20K and get a 996.
