Don't even think about a 911 for that price. Especially if your missus is a novice driver. The older 911s were notoriously difficult to drive, terrible oversteer, the turbos were problematic and the interior bland. For 10K you won't get air con, traction control, stability control, abs, air bags etc etc. Spend your pennies on something modern, but if u really want a 911 source one from Europe where they are dirt cheap albeit left hand drive.
