If someone had done this on the road and caused death then jail time would reasonably be expected. The bosses knew and permitted it so corporate manslaughter would seem reasonable.

    TFL fine

Just got done for £10milluon for Croydon Tram crash.

    https://metro.co.uk/2023/07/27/trans...ster-19201689/

Transport for London (TfL) has been fined £10 million for health and safety failings leading up to the Croydon tram disaster.
A second company, Tram Operations Limited (TOL), was also handed a £4 million fine for the failure leading up to the horrific crash, in which seven passengers died.

Both TfL and TOL accepted they failed in their health and safety duties.

Judge Mr Justice Fraser handed down the fines at the Old Bailey on Thursday. He’d already ordered the operators each pay £234,404 in costs to the prosecuting authority, the Office of Rail and Road, and a victim surcharge of £170.

The judge told the court: ‘This was undoubtedly an accident waiting to happen, quite literally.’

The ‘complacency’ around the inadequate lighting and lack of visual cues in the tunnel was ‘disturbing’, he added.

Dozens of people were also injured when a tram carrying 69 people derailed near the Sandilands stop on the morning of November 9, 2016.
