The Dog and Fox in Wimbledon is a non-smoking pub. Very popular during the day with the mother and kiddie lunchers because of that.
I agree with the idea of banning music in pubs. I go to the pub to enjoy a few nice pints and have a chat, not to listen to someone else's selection of thumping music.
Bah.

There are a few. The King And Castle (Wetherspoon's) in Windsor comes to mind, and as a smoker I have no problem going in there.Originally posted by TonyEnglishI can't think of ever seeing a bar where smoking is banned - discounting airports etc.

This smoking ban is a load of old bollux! If smoke free bars were so much in demand then they would have cropped up by themselves through market forces. I can't think of ever seeing a bar where smoking is banned - discounting airports etc.
What is going to be next? How about banning music in pubs incase certain people don't like the type of music being played?

I don't have a problem with other people smoking.
I know that when I walk into a bar that it's likely to be a smokey environment - I don't have a problem with that.
I don't like people smoking in restaurants.
I can make my own decisions, I don't need a(nother) piece of unworkable legislation governing my life!

It's stupidity like this that makes me want to take up smoking again.
Maybe I'll just do it for 1st July

Firstly a disclaimer, I smoke. I smoke because I like it and because I want to.
However:-
1) I agree with banning smoking in restaurants - there's nothing worse than someone puffing away next to you when you're eating. Restaurants are also places that children are allowed and I agree with the banning of smoking around children
2) I disagree with the wholesale banning of smoking in pubs unless they are family pubs. If the individual pub wants to then that's fine, but I see no need for legislation in this case
3) Anyone who is too lazy to put their fag end in the nearest bin in a built up area should be fined for littering
