Gone off the idea of wearing cheap masks

But if the new variant turns out to be serious, I may buy a pack of these bad boys, because apparently only FFP3 masks are the slightest use in blocking viruses.

Is it just me, or do the various goverments of the world seem absolutely terrified of this one? The speed at which countries have been added to red lists, press conferences called, mask wearing resintated etc is unusual. The charitable explanation would be that they have finally got their acts together, and are applying a bit of the precautionary principle. My concern is that that seems unlikely, and they know something about this one that we are not yet privy to. Anyway, I got boosted today so that's something.

Stay calm!
It's too early - so you know what to do instead of desperately trying to do panic buying in 7-10 days.
