Yes, as most of my friends all have kids and/or in far flung places, it's easier to have a chat and a beer on Skype while blowing their heads off in UT2004.

so what the guy plays games..... enjoys it and has friends who does similar..
Seriously, it doesn't bother me. We enjoy it and that's all that matters.

To be honest, I feel the same way about football and other sports, so I'm just as guilty.

One man's meat is another man's poison and all that...

...and Zeit...it's DOOM mate, not DOOMED

I'm the same, some weeks the only social interaction I get (other than the wife) is with xbox live which usually means talking to people I don't really know and blowing their heads off

    Judge Dredd
    Traveller / Megatraveller
    Deadlands

The only system we have never run is Vampire the Masquerade, for personal reasons.
    WTF?!

None of that makes any sense to me.

Last computer game I played seriously was Elite, on my BBC B, when I was about 10. Since then I have developed more interesting interests.

Oh, I did go through a Stick Cricket phase about 3 years ago for a couple of days.

It's not dull for people who play them. It's like chatting on here - I know none of you really exist, but it's quite amusing nonetheless.

I don't play - I prefer first life. I don't know any warlords or dragons obviously, but Great Brickhill have some decent fast bowlers, two blokes called Dave and Ray take turns to beat me up on the Dojang every couple of weeks, and my wife is pretty fierce.

I used to have a link to some rather good naked twister piccies, but I seem to have lost it. I think I posted it on here once. You could do a search.

BGG, how do you play - the old fashioned way, all around a table, or networked on ur PCs?
The old fashioned way, with a few tweaks.

Players sit on the sofa or on the armchairs.

I sit at the computer desk.

I use a "screen down policy" primarily because a GM screen can foster an element of us and him thinking. With the screen down, I can see the players, they can see me, and we can work together.

However, they are seated far enough back not to see my notes or most dice rolls.

To my left side of the desk sits a 19" TFT which I can see but the players cannot, where I store more notes and GM utilities.

I'm considering getting another TFT that faces the places, so I can pop maps, pictures, and player related info on it.

If we all want to use PC's, then we play from home and meet up in World of Warcraft, which is a totally different game.

I have heard of a few RPG Clients that can run on PC, but these are for DM's with players in different demographic locations. Since my group are all local and friends and meet in person, we don't need this.

You laugh but what will happen in the future if the characters in second life 'evolve' and start to think for themselves, we will be like gods looking in with the power to delete/install 'life'

How do you know this has not already happened? You may think that’s ridiculous but surely no more than what we know now i.e. sod all really...

You know, I know this steak doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss.
