I think England started with it, but after 15 minutes they got confused and lost it.

I've just thought of something else:

    4. Diving - Seriously, Johnny Foreigner doesn't understand our attitude to it. Michael Owen isn't bad, but generally we are not as good as we need to be.

Exactly unlike the more recent European world-cup winning sides - Italy, France and Germany, who play less, have a break, and have less foreigners.

Yep, but he's only on 1/2 pay now which equates to GBP6,500 per day. Remember, you're paying for that! The only way he stops getting paid by the FA is to wait out his contract or get another job.

The manager has an impossible job. For a start:

    1. Too many league games
    2. No mid-season break
    3. Too many foreigners

Exactly like those other perennial under-achievers since black and white television - Spain.

You'll be lucky, not with the meeja in this country. Haven't you heard? The EPL is the greatest footballing show on the planet bar none and so it obviously follows on that as a direct consequence the English national team will effortlessly sweep all before them even though they have chosen to appoint a manager with a track record of mediocrity, and have achieved bugger all at international level since the days of black and white telly.

Perhaps we should resign ourselves to the fact that we're a good but not a great team. The technique and creative flair the Latins have is clearly lacking. Nor we have we got the self-belief, mental strength and organisation of the Germans.
I'm increasingly beginning to think that in spite of his tentative approach to the last WC, over his time in office, Sven got the team as far as they were going to go.

I see what you mean - he is third choice because they cannot choose him.

It's a bit unfair to say that Foster is United's third-choice keeper. I don't know who United have on the bench, but Ferguson knows that Foster is better off on loan somewhere than benchwarming. He is playing, has lots to do (as you would at Watford) and is gaining experience.

So Foster is second best at United rather than third, and apart from Van de Saar, Cech, and possibly Lehman, is probably as good as anyone else in the Premiership.

He's better than Wright-Phillips, and at least he can beat a defender. His best stuff is when he gets to the byline and drills one across the 6 yard box. Something that Wright-Phillips can never hope to achieve based on last nights performance.

Woodgate was excellent - you'd never know he hadn't played for England for so long. He was our best player by a mile IMO.

    1. Lampard and Gerrard should take turns in the team - great alone, crap together.

    2. Now Beckham's gone, who is England's most useless player?
