Ice-cream vans are at risk of running out of Cadbury’s famous 99 Flakes as supply problems lead to a shortage of the chocolate sticks.

Despite a cold and wet start to the summer, demand for the crumbly treat used to top soft scoop ice-cream cones has increased in recent weeks with supply struggling to keep up. The 99 Flakes are half the size of Flakes sold in newsagents and supermarkets.

Only the UK and Ireland are thought to have been affected by dwindling supplies. It is unclear if supply issues are related to either Brexit or coronavirus, or how long the shortage might last.”

Sounds like a really difficult job. Sticking all the stringy lines of chocolate together.

Could they not just snap them half. Like some ice cream sellers do. Always felt short changed when they did that.

Brits are thick and lazy and although they can probably cope with eating chocolate, there is zero chance they could mix it up and put it in a box.

We need people that come from world leading economies like Lithuania and Croatia who are willing to work 18 hours a day for below nmw.

The flakes we consume in the UK are made in Egypt. Sadly the UK doesn't have the technology or know-how to work with advanced materials like chocolate. Chocolate only reached the UK in 1974 after joining the Common Market.

And sadly no Brits want to work in the flake creation business because its such hard work!
