    Interesting linguistic fact: the correct term for all those described by such terms as "members of the newly formed Northern Research Group", "“red wall” MPs", "friend of Mr Johnson", "twat", "bunch of bedwetters", "one aide", and "backbenchers" is "bunch of *****"

    “Relations with backbenchers deteriorated further last week when 54 members of the newly formed Northern Research Group wrote to the prime minister demanding a plan to get out of lockdown. The letter, which was leaked to The Times, prompted a backlash from many of the “red wall” MPs who had signed it. “We’ve shot ourselves in the foot,” one said. “I’m really upset, the prime minister is doing his best,” said another.

    Jake Berry, a friend of Mr Johnson who set up the group, had a pithy response. “We’ve been in contact with No 10 to make clear it was not a hostile act. Whoever leaked it, you’re a twat.”

    In Downing Street, the letter was met with anger. “They’re a bunch of bedwetters,” one aide said. “
