I agree. If the agency aren't falling over backwards to ensure you turn up then something doesn't sound right.

I agree you shouldn't go under the circumstances. It isn't abnormal to start without the paperwork, but the agency should at least sound like there's no probs.

This sounds however the client is causing problems, rather than the agency. In that case wait for the Agency go ahead.

Did anyone deal with Cititec, I know whatever we say they are still agents, but do they pay on time etc?

Client wants a clause in to say that they can fire a contractor on a moments notice for anything they see fit (i.e. not just things like gross misconduct), with no notice period, i.e. walked off site.
The agency says they annot accept these terms as they could theoretically walk me off site on a friday 31st of the month withot signing my timesheet for the month, resulting in them (and me) not getting paid.

Also there was a clause regarding insurance that the agent didn't like, but he didn't elaborate on that one.

It wasn't just my agent I was speaking to either (he's fecked off on holiday), it was the head of sales for the entire agency.

I'm not getting the contract through today, so I'm no starting work tomorow. Simple as that really. They reckon they might be able to sort it by friday, in which case I can start on Monday.

So here I am, packed, not really knowing if I've even got this job. I dont trust what anyone is saying to be honest. But if he's telling the truth, then I dont really want to work for a company who wants to be to shaft me as soon as look at me either.

Its just a wierd situation that I think I'm best out of. I'll have to get that "life on the shelf" thread back up again...

sorry to hear it, and I think you are doing the right thing, I have started work in the past prior to sorting out the contract and I think it was a mistake. So its good you are insisting to sort the contract beforehand. Does anyone else here agrees to start a contract before signing the contract ?

The temination clause does give a bit of warning singns to me, I could understand if they said they could terminate you with no notice within the first 2-4 weeks, but actually insisting they could terminate you at any point in the contract with no notice is a bit taking the pi$$ and to me does not show good intentions.

In any case do remember its best if all the problem gets flushed out before starting a contract, once you start its a nightmare trying to sort rates/contracts and do your job to your best abilities.

SA, I feel for ya mate, I know what you mean, if you want the truth I don't recall an agent that I worked with that have not messed up one way or another, but as you say pay is important.

My advice keep alll conversation via email, if they ring you ask them to confirm by email, or summarise what they say to you and ask them to confirm it.

Turn up for work tomorrow and see what happens.

I wish you best of luck .

btw: why is the client against your contract clause, your contract is with the agency not the client.

Sally love, give the client a bell/femail and ask them if you can help. Find out what the agent is doing and deal with it.
