“ Weight loss companies say demand for diets has "exploded" after the government announced free takeaways for all in a bid to keep the restaurant sector afloat.

John Keefe, director of public affairs at Weightwatchers, said phones had been "ringing off the hook".
Weightwaters saw an increase of sign ups weeks ago, suggesting that many dieters had already started to "factor in the calories", said Mr Keefe - but sign ups "exploded" when the announcement was made on Friday.“
