That's not why it's a scammer's dream, it's because TalkTalk brains are involved.

I have my little bit of software which will show up as another number on someone else's phone so this is easy to fake....If anybody calls they will be calling from the number 03000135000, if you get a text it will come from NHS and they will never ask you for any form of payment or purchase or details of your bank account, and also you will then be given, if you’re online, a QR code to be able to confirm those details online.

First they thought they’ll get away with cheap app - wasted months during which contact tracing could be done - making phone calls is possible from home ffs and lot people were and still are unemployedOriginally posted by SimonMac View PostErm, that is what is happening in the UK, the app is only part of the track and trace, the phone calls are starting now, the app will come later to automate parts of the process.

Will contacts be told WHO has been in contact with them or only that SOMEONE has? The former you can say "no they weren't" but it does mean every name you give is informed you have CV. Is that information you might want to be kept private?Originally posted by GhostofTarbera View PostGood morning
Your husbands lover has tested positive for coronavirus you must self isolate with your husband for 14 days
Or
Get burner phone
Fill in details of everyone you don’t like, then let the contact tracers isolate them

Erm, that is what is happening in the UK, the app is only part of the track and trace, the phone calls are starting now, the app will come later to automate parts of the process.Originally posted by Old Greg View PostThe reliance on this app has left the UK way behind with contact tracing. Ireland started about 10 weeks ago. I went into client site one day and the army had taken over the canteen and set up a contact tracing team to support Public Health (they are still on site but not in the canteen). Then various civil servants from other departments were brought in. Lots of carefully scripted phone calls to patients and contacts, with a robust but simple IT solution for recording findings. Not complex, but it takes the will to prioritise and the right people to work methodically and reassuringly with the public. A contact tracing app is on its way, but in the meantime, contact tracing continues.

Majority of population doesn't care about data. They have nothing to "hide".

Everybody who matters (big Govts) or can afford to pay (a lot of companies) already got your personal data
