I'm sure the line will take normal speed trains while they finish the full link.

Typically it's all about ******* London. The northerners just want a fit for purpose rail system seeing as the goverment are going to be taxing them off the roads soon anyway. 'Smart' motorway ANPR based toll charges, more tax on dirty diesels (now they've conned people into those even when not suitable. e.g. DPF issues due to short school run type journeys) and pretending electric cars are the solution without even the infrastructure in place to charge the ******* things. Oh and they'll cost a fortune to replace the batteries so may as well get shafted on a lease deal instead.

Just sort out the ******* public transport throughout the UK if you're going to pretend to be interested in the climate, and not some vanity project benefiting the landowners on the HS2 proposed route that are likely tory party donors. So obviously the recommendation is for it to go ahead.

In HS2 those morons saved a billion or two by cutting put direct link to HS1 (and thus EU high speed networks), fkwits - making high speed train to get people get off at Euston to walk to another railway station, pass customs checks there, arrive well before time to avoid missing another high speed train instead of direct route ffs.

Why would I praise Tory Scum? I expect them (Tory Scum) to increase taxes, just not as much as crazy Korbyn planned to do, maybe just maybe tax increases this time will be kept to minimum.

I am an equal opportunities prejudice. The Labour scum would cause the same problems in a different way.

What is Labour's stance on HS2? Anything sensible?

If the tories are so bothered about north and midlands infrastructure maybe start HS2 at that end and not London.

As someone who tries to use Northern everyday (but only manages 2-3 times a week) I look forward to all the problems magically being solved on 1st March.

I have some sympathy for Northern, they were presented a view of what the infrastructure would look like and planned their timetable on that, but the upgrades to the infrastructure never came so they were stuck using old trains as the modern ones couldn't run on non electrified lines.

Look over here at our newfound desire to appease the public and their tulipty northern railway, which we'll do nothing to significantly improve (deep clean the railstock , it should be ******* replaced!), while at the same time giving full backing to the extortionate HS2 that will cost way more than £100 billion, but our friends who will give us jobs when we stop being MPs will make billions out of it so it's a no-brainer for us and a no brain public that will accept it.

HS2: Chancellor Sajid Javid 'backs project' ahead of crucial meeting

it would be difficult for a government that says it is committed to greater investment in the Midlands and North to cancel the biggest project on its books designed to do that.
Tory scum, all about saving face and **** the costs to the public.

I'm sure we'll see riots on the streets over it. Get your vaseline ready you ******* mugs.

[I've not even finished my first coffee of the day. **** it, better to die of a stroke than that ******* chinese flu]

Northern: Rail firm brought under government control

WTF? Vote Tory and get Labour? Seriously?

Troubled rail company Northern is to be brought under government control.

The decision, which will see the firm's franchise stripped from operator Arriva Rail North from 1 March, was taken following years of major disruption.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said passengers had "lost trust in the north's rail network".

Arriva said it "understood the government's decision", but problems had been largely due to "external factors" such as rail infrastructure.

Northern passengers have faced rail chaos ever since new timetables were introduced in May 2018, and punctuality and reliability problems have continued to blight the network.
