Which many just don't get. The UK union is not equivalent to the EU. UK citizens cannot loose the right to freedom of movement.

Yes problem is no one has a clue what May's rules are. What are the conditions of the 5 year stay, what is the cut off date and what are future access rights to pensions, heathcare etc

Everybody wants to know, obviously, but Mrs May won't give a running commentary.

There are far more British people in the rest of the EU than non-British EU citizens in the UK per capita. If the UK and the rest of the EU would have the same number of citizens, there would be 8.8 million Brits in Europe versus 3.2 million non-British EU citizens in the UK.

It appears that the British are 2.75 times as likely to move elsewhere in the EU than people from other EU member states to move to the UK.

The question really is whether this is one of the things that needs to get through parliament, because if it is and it's soon, it could well be the government's first major defeat.

All of which makes me think this is Theresa May retrospectively trying to lose the election, having failed to lose it properly the first time.

She's got to get the House of Commons biscuit selection agreed first.
