Are Bremainers slowly turning from Smeagols into Gollums?

I'm worried that their thwarted wishes and constantly postponed expectations of doom may gradually turn them bitter and twisted, over time eroding their humanity.

In extreme cases, like scooterscot or sasguru, I fear this may eventually transform them into shambling skeletal goggle eyed creatures with an appetite for raw fish!
